Sensitive, emotional, public and private knowledge

The knowledge is given a fairly comprehensive concept that combines important aspects such as intelligence and learning processes . Knowledge is defined as an activity of human thought, as a result of the experiences, learning and reasoning of each individual. It is for this reason that there are different types of knowledge , we will explain each of them below.

Sensitive knowledgeIt is one that uses the senses to detect the environment, its changes and its patterns.
Intellectual knowledgeIt is one who uses reason, intelligence and reflection. This type of knowledge goes beyond the senses.
Public knowledgeIt is one that is created by people or institutions to be used freely. It is reusable knowledge.
Private knowledgeIt is one that arises from personal and own experiences.

What is knowledge?

The knowledge is understood as the ways in which humans acquire information. This information is then analyzed, organized and used in different ways in order to solve specific or eventual problems.

Knowledge is a process by which information is obtained through experience and learning . This will depend on the memory and the capacity for reflection that each individual has.

The intellectual content is stored in our mind and it interacts with conscious thoughts, and it is for this reason that knowledge is related to reality and is kept up to date. The knowledge implies besides experience, an orderly system of multiple knowledge. It is important to differentiate knowledge from knowledge, since knowing something does not mean that we can explain it but we do know about it, unlike knowledge that allows us to handle information that we can relate to other knowledge.

Importance of knowledge

Knowledge is very important as it is based on the experience of human beings. Experience is one of the most important sources for obtaining knowledge, transmitting it, preserving it and organizing it according to the needs that we want to fulfill. This means that as the years go by, individuals will be able to learn from mistakes in order to anticipate other situations.

Having knowledge allows us to have information, and this is one of the most important and fundamental tools to be able to survive and especially to live with others.

Types of knowledge

There are different types of knowledge, below we explain some of them:

Sensitive knowledge

The sense knowledge is one who uses the senses to be able to detect the environment, its changes and patterns. It is a type of knowledge limited to what our senses can provide us.

As there are different animal species, each one has different sensory organs. This means that sensory knowledge is very varied.

This knowledge is obtained thanks to the perception of objects and the interpretation that we make of them. Within this type of knowledge we find:

-Sensitive objects

-The sensations

-The powers and the senses

Sensitive knowledge can be divided into two:

– External sensitive knowledge : which refers to the capture of sensible forms, which are classified into: object per se (that which is known immediately and is captured by a single sense) and object by accident (which can be own and common):

– Internal sensitive knowledge: it is the knowledge that is conditioned to the external senses and the different capacities that each person possesses to be able to capture that physical world. Here the objects that are involved are: common sense, memory, imagination, among others.

Intellectual knowledge

The intellectual knowledge is one who uses reason, intelligence and reflection. This type of knowledge goes beyond the senses, creating explanations that use language and thus manage to predict and control in a more advanced way than what sensitive knowledge allows.

Among the main characteristics of this type of knowledge we find:

-It is abstract , this implies that it is not related to specific sensations or perceptions but is capable of abstracting, that is, separating and discarding certain characteristics of individual perceptions and staying only with the common characteristics.

-It is symbolic , this means that it is closely related to a system of symbols and a language that allows: storing knowledge for use in the future, transmitting it to other people and producing or generating new knowledge through the manipulation of symbols.

-It is rational, since it uses intelligence and reason to justify the validity of the knowledge acquired, to expand the knowledge and relate it to others, and to criticize the knowledge that already exists as a first step to try to improve or complement it.

Public knowledge

Public knowledge is that which is created by people or institutions to be used freely. It is also called open knowledge since it has total accessibility to the public and is also reusable knowledge.

This knowledge begins to be considered as another public good and it must be preserved and protected given its great importance for the community. Public knowledge refers to popular and people’s knowledge, since it is very common for many people to be able to interpret it easily. It is considered a knowledge with a universal character and that is widely disseminated to the different sectors of a society. Furthermore, it does not have sectarian limits or regulations or limitations of any kind.

The public knowledge has information that is anonymous, since it has free access . This implies that it will always be subject to change, new data can be incorporated that could alter the original meaning that an idea had, but this depends on it being accepted by a majority so that it can be considered as valuable and truthful information.

The term public is related to the indication that a content belongs to the state or the community. The administration of this information and of those damages may be carried out by all the citizens of the same society, in order to achieve in this way that their inheritance can be shared and guaranteed.

Private knowledge

The private knowledge is that which arises from personal and own experiences. In it there is a direct relationship and it depends on the individual to be able to find such information.

The word private comes from the Latin term “privatus”, which refers to the execution of a domestic activity, which is carried out under the dress of a few people. In addition, this term can be used to refer to a space that belongs to a particular person and that can only be used by him, its owner.

Private knowledge is considered difficult to access and it depends on who handles the information to decide if it is their exclusive and is kept private. Since it is knowledge that is based on the experiences of each individual, it could be said that the content has an autobiographical origin and therefore will not be available to large numbers of people.

This type of private knowledge usually includes data or information that is of vital importance to whoever owns it and if they were made public, their privacy could be violated . In addition, an important fact to take into account is that for its interpretation confusion can be generated, and this is mainly due to the fact that it is a reflection of the inner and private world of each person.
