The food is the action performed by living things for food ingested and thus meet the biological needs. For its part, nutrition is obtaining the nutrients found in food, and which are essential for the development and growth of the body.

The feed is the action by which it is obtained, select and prepare foods in order to eat. They involve actions related to their choice, on the other hand when we talk about nutrition we refer to the processing and digestion of said foods within our body.

Food is the action that generates the nutrition process, and in turn nutrition depends on food to be generated. Through nutrition, the nutrients found in the foods that we select in the action of feeding, satisfy the needs of our cells and allow an adequate development of our systems and devices to be able to provide people with good physical resistance to be able to carry out daily activity.

One of the main objectives of the most advanced societies is to have a healthy diet , in order to achieve that people enjoy a longer life with good physical conditions. The large amount of information we have today allows people to know what they are consuming and to be able to choose what type of diet they want in their life.

What is the Alimentation?

As we detailed previously, food is the process by which food is obtained, selected and prepared for later consumption. This act or action depends on several factors, which are: the social environment, learning, customs, geographical environment, personal preferences and tastes, socioeconomic factors, the health conditions of each person, among others.

It is for this reason and for the factors that we detailed, that food is a universal act, it does not develop in the same way throughout the world or in all people. It is an individual act where each one decides when and how to eat.

A good and healthy diet should contain:

– Proteins: they help strengthen muscle tissue and skin. We can find them in red meat, blue fish, milk, eggs and fresh vegetables.

– Carbohydrates, carbohydrates or sugars : which provide us with the necessary calories for energy. We can find them in cereals, legumes, pasta, soft drinks and fruits.

– Fats : improve the taste of food and carry out specific activities. It is important to know that refried oils, cheeses (strong or cured) or bacon are not beneficial for health. When choosing other fats such as olive oil, or fish fats such as salmon, sardines, etc. are preferable.

– Vitamins : the consumption of vitamins can be incorporated through foods such as vegetables, fruits and vegetables.

-You try to avoid refined foods, since they lack fiber and have a high amount of preservatives and colorings that are not good for your health. Fiber intake is recommended through whole grains, legumes with skin, whole grain breads, among others. These are beneficial for intestinal activity and prevent constipation.

-Drink plenty of fluids : fluid intake is very important, whether in the form of water, natural juices, soups, among others.

Feeding types

As the foods that you consume are a personal choice and based on the different factors that we have detailed, the types of diet are very varied. Let’s see some of them:

– Balanced diet: this type of diet includes foods from all food groups (milk, meats, vegetables, vegetables, fruits, cereals and fats). Their consumption is in moderate amounts, which must be present in all the meals that the individual makes.

– Vegetarian food : this type of diet is reduced in the consumption only of vegetables, legumes, cereals, fruits and fats of non-animal origin. Within this type we can find certain sub-classifications, such as: ovo-lacto-vegetarianism (includes eggs and dairy), Lacto-vegetarianism (includes dairy), Veganism (excludes any food of animal origin).

– Mediterranean diet: this type of diet is also known as the Mediterranean diet and it is a selection of foods based on the eating habits of the inhabitants of the Mediterranean region of Europe. Large amounts of vegetables, legumes, fruits, monounsaturated fats are included and the consumption of red meat is very low.

What is the nutrition?

Nutrition is called the process carried out by the organisms of living beings to transform ingested food into energy and matter in order to fulfill vital functions.

When eating a food, it is absorbed, digested, metabolized and finally eliminated of waste or elements that are not nutritional for the body.

For an organism to be nourished with good elements, it is necessary that the selection of the food we consume is appropriate to our needs and physical requirements. That is why it is said that the type of diet we have has a direct relationship with the quality of nutrition.

Nutrition is a  biological, physiological and involuntary process , which implies that it will take place every time the food is eaten, regardless of its type, quality or quantity.

Among the main objectives of nutrition we find:

-The contribution of energy : this is the objective of all human beings to be able to have strength and carry out the activities that we want. The intakes of carbohydrates, proteins and fats must be of good quality and in an adequate proportion to be able to achieve a good functioning of the metabolic system.

-Contributed plastic : for this purpose should be consumed protein, fat and certain minerals. A clear example is the consumption of calcium, which is a fundamental plastic element for muscle contraction and the transmission of nerve impulses.

-Contributed regulated r: this contribution is done vitamins and minerals we consume. Vitamins work as catalysts and allow the release of energy.

-Reserve contribution : as we know carbohydrates and fats are the main sources of energy. Fats are easily accumulative, so they are not a storage or availability problem.
