Advantages and disadvantages of the cloud

The cloud is a worldwide network of remote servers that has been improving over the years, making a connection from anywhere in the world. Here, like nowhere else, we present the advantages and disadvantages of the cloud.

CloudAccess from multiple devices and anywhere with web access.Unsafe information with loss of privacy.
Savings in software, hardware and technical maintenance.Information vulnerable to theft.
Cost reduction and scalable storage. It depends on the structure and platform of third parties to operate.
Remote employee access and automatic update.Slow connection if many people access the service simultaneously.
Ecological use and quick response.Need for fast, continuous and secure internet to be able to work.
Performance and durability.Sometimes they are not the full versions of the cloud service.

What is the cloud?

This worldwide network of remote servers, with an instantaneity from anywhere in the world, allows the possibility of using services, creating backup copies or saving information without having the necessary structure for it, which is generally lacking.

In other words, the cloud enables the use of a good amount of content and services, the explanation being simple enough: what we would have on the same PC, such as programs and files, become in a set of servers (which in the sense of strict receive requests from the client and return a response), as long as the internet is accessed, without having a large infrastructure in this regard.

In a world where the disparity of information and the machinery to support it is increasing, the cloud reduces that gap . A multitude of people, then, do not have to worry about space on their computer, since the cloud can contain a large amount of material remotely. This is how this service works.

Advantages of the cloud

The two main advantages of clouds are evident: first, it allows access from multiple devices and anywhere the web can be accessed ; in the background, but intimately linked, it saves both in software and hardware and in the technical maintenance that it would imply.

That is, these two advantages of the cloud account for the access and instantaneousness of the information, but also its weight or capacity, allowing the same computer to be freed from the storage of that amount of information, files, applications. etc.

However, there are also other secondary advantages, which refer to the intensive and professional use that can be made of the cloud, often related to companies. So here you can mention the reduction of costs (pay for what is used), scalable storage as needed, automatic updates, remote access for employees, ease of implementation, an ecological use (uses less energy), short times of response, performance and durability.

Disadvantages of the cloud

However, not everything is rosy compared to the cloud and some inherent disadvantages can also be perceived in its use.

In the first place, we can mention the fact that the information itself is not secure , something very sensitive, for example, for a company since there is not so much privacy in the data. Likewise, it depends on the structure and platform of third parties to operate and the information is vulnerable to theft .

On the other hand, more from the world of access view, you can suffer slow connections if many people are accessing the cloud simultaneously, the server programs are sometimes not the full version and it is vital to have a continuous, fast and secure internet to be able to access this type of information that is in the cloud.
